Why we started The Kusp.
After starting his journey in the creative industry managing artists, Amos wanted to create a pathway through events and experiences for fellow under-represented creatives from ethnic minority and lower socio-economic groups in his community to access insights and opportunities they weren’t being exposed to. But he wanted to do things differently. Representation is important more ways than one, realising that large scale networking events lend themselves well to more extroverts, he wanted to create an inclusive space for introverted creatives.
So prioritising access became our main goal. Listening to creatives, we realised access to ‘education & insights’, ‘networks’ and ‘work opportunities’ was lacking for creatives from ethnic minority and lower-socio economic backgrounds, so this became our foundation. Adopting the ethos of ‘curated for introverts and accessible for extroverts’. Our curated experiences have led to diverse creatives landing full-time roles at reputable creative employers, securing mentorship from the best-in-class industry specialists, and getting signed to world-renowned production companies or talent agents.
We serve the underserved. We connect and support global majority, lower socio-economic, neurodivergent and disabled groups in Film, Television, Fashion & Media.
About The Kusp
“Who you know influences the opportunities that you have access to, so those in privileged circles regularly excel.”
We are a UK-based not-for-profit social enterprise building a diverse community of upskilled creatives from under-represented communities to access opportunities, and excel, within creative media industries - film, television, fashion and print media.
Partnering with leading brands and industry professionals, we deliver masterclasses, portfolio reviews, mentorship schemes and more to support the creative industries in sourcing under‑represented talent. Focusing on social impact at our core, we actively contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals ‘Decent Work & Economic Growth’ (8.5, 8.6) and ‘Reducing Inequalities’ (10.2); select the icons to the left to learn more.
