In 2019, Jessica Magaye attended a Kusp masterclass as a first-time scriptwriter. One conversation with Joel Wilson led to a two-week placement at Eleven Film. Today, she's directed for DBK Studios and Sky Arts, and on the production team for Netflix's Supacell. Her journey proves how single opportunities can unlock entire careers.

Photographer and director, Renee Maria Osubu, secured representation with Somesuch after connecting through a The Kusp workshop session. Her Sundance-premiered documentary, Dear Philadelphia, and subsequent international recognition prove that when underrepresented creatives access curated industry spaces, careers transform. Talent matters, but so does being in the right room.

When SAG-AFTRA condemned the use of AI-generated likenesses without consent, warning that it “undercuts the ability of human talent,” it captured a fear many creatives share. The Kusp understands this, and also see an opportunity that can be capitalised on.
