Creating spaces and opportunities for under-served future creatives from across the UK to grow and thrive in the film and TV industry.

We’ll be heading to Manchester, Brighton, and Bristol during September, October and December 2023. Delivering panel talks and industry mixers targeted at the Black and Global Majority and other creative talent in these regions.

Evenings will see the best-in-class industry specialists share insights about navigating the film and TV industry, alongside professional and wider well-being support, enabling those starting their careers to progress as successfully as possible, with support from local organisations and industry companies.

  • Lee joined Lifted Entertainment as Creative Director, North, in 2021.

    With a TV career spanning more than 20 years, one of Lee’s first television jobs was on the popular daytime show Cash In The Attic, before going on to produce award-winning formats such as How Clean Is Your House? and The Apprentice.

    Lee worked on the very first series of The X Factor, becoming creative director for show creators Syco Entertainment. Eventually becoming executive producer of Britain’s Got Talent.

  • Jermaine studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University before working his way up the ranks of the camera department working on celebrated productions including Bronson, 71, Pride and Top Boy. He holds a MA degree in Cinematography from the National Film and Television School in London.

  • After graduating from university, Zak briefly worked as a mentor at an inner-city London school, before joining Philippa Giles’ indie label Bandit Television as Team Assistant in 2018. He joined Tiger Aspect in 2019 and now works as Development Editor, across a slew of exciting projects on the development slate. In 2022, he was one of six selected for BBC/Eleven’s Duly Noted programme where he was mentored by Carissa Hope Lynch and Tolula Dada. He’s currently Assistant Script Editor on Sir Lenny Henry’s period drama Three Little Birds for ITV/Britbox.

  • Catarina Oliveira is a freelance offline editor with 14 years of experience. Most recently she has been working for BBC, Sky, Disney+, Nat Geo, ITV and Netflix in natural history, live TV, and observational documentaries. Her credits include ‘Blue Planet II’, ‘Springwatch’, ‘Rescued Chimpanzees of the Congo with Jane Goodall’, Sky Nature’s latest original series ‘Islands’ and 'A Real Bug's Life' for Disney+.

    As well as working in broadcast, Catarina also produces and edits independent films. She edited the multi award-winning short drama ‘Talia’ and produced and edited the award-winning horror film ‘Out at Night’.

  • Rachel Plant became a Producer at the Aardman Academy in 2020. Before that she had worked in production at Humphrey Barclay Productions and First Choice Films on a variety of multi-camera sit-coms and single camera dramas. She subsequently became a freelance corporate film maker working with clients such as NHS Glos and Sky whilst working as a Senior Lecturer, Course Leader and Enhancement Lead on an H. E. Film Production course.

    As a Producer in the Aardman Academy she now works with Universities, Colleges and other institutions such as BBC World Service, English Heritage and the BFI to nurture new and emerging talent.

  • Joe has had a wiggly career that has taken him from Emmerdale to Japanese gameshows to Silicon Valley. He has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands and broadcasters including BBC, ITV, Sony Pictures, Warp Films and Nippon TV.

    Before joining Channel 4 as commissioner, Joe was Creative Director at Studio Weekend, the independent production company he founded and ran for five years. There he created commercials, branded content and digital series for brands such as Airbnb, Greenpeace, Google, Jaguar Land Rover and The Guardian.

    If there is a through-line to be traced in Joe’s diverse track record, it’s putting the audience at the heart of his work and creating outstanding entertainment at the intersection of broadcast and commercial content creation.

  • Euella is an award-winning presenter, film-maker and creative producer based in Bristol working with the likes of BAFTA, Channel 4, BBC and WWF. As one of the Co-Directors at Rising Arts Agency, a radical, youth-led social enterprise that advocates for young creative leaders and challenging the status quo in the creative and cultural industries. As a film-maker, she co-runs Fam Films Productions and the interim chair of trustees at Encounters Short Film Festival. Euella is a 2023 cohort member on We Are Parables Momentum Programme, supporting black film-makers.

  • Anil Gupta is a British comedy writer and creative producer at Sky Studios. He is known for being the executive producer of The Office, for which he won two BAFTA Awards and was nominated for an Emmy Award. His other major credits for writing and/or producing include Goodness Gracious Me, The Kumars at No. 42, Citizen Khan and Bromwell High.

  • Camilla Lunn is an assistant producer known for Britain's Top Takeaways (2022), The Bidding Room (2020) and It's Me or the Dog (2005).

  • Ella Glendining is a Writer/Director dedicated to telling authentic disabled stories. Her first feature film, IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE? premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2023 as part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition, with its UK premier at Sheffield Doc Fest 2023. It has won a number of awards, including the Silver Horn for the director of a film on social issues at Krakow Film Festival 2023, the prestigious FIPRESCI International Film Critics Prize, and the Bring the Change award at Biografilm Festival 2023, as well as receiving a special mention at Milwaukee Film Festival 2023. Ella has written/directed short films with backing from Film4, the BFI, Arts Council England, Screen South, and the National Paralympic Heritage Trust. Ella was named one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow 2020. She is currently writing a feature fiction film called CURIOSITIES OF FOOLS for the BFI. Ella is also an Access Coordinator.
